Fall Conference 2007

Meeting was called to order at 12:45pm by Stacey Hitesman, President. There were 21 people in attendance.

Old Business

  • Minutes from the Spring 2007 Business meeting were presented by Stacey Hitesman, President – members were allowed time to review meeting minutes; Marsha Stieber made a motion to approve, Dennis Crossley seconded the motion and the motion was passed
  • Introduction made of new officers for 2007-2008 – Stacey Hitesman, President; Joanne Schreiber, President-Elect; Sarah Klein-Mark, Secretary/Treasurer; Kathleen Williams, Membership Chair; Gayle Baingo, Nominating Committee; Carole Ryan, Nominating Committee; Andrea Grondwalski has moved out of state and is no longer an officer
  • National Nutrition Month submission for money protocol – flyer distributed for all members on process for requesting money for National Nutrition Month
  • Bylaws and job descriptions have been finalized and are approved by the State – Marsha Stieber, Joanne Schreiber, and Mary Elllen Rivero were dedicated to completing this task
  • AZDA will no longer be involved in the planning of district meetings, but will still support each district with a yearly contribution of $500; AZDA State meeting will be in June 2008

New Business

  • Nominations for awards or officers to nominating committee (RYDY, ODY, Lifetime Achievement); applications to be sent to Gayle Baingo or Carole Ryan
    • Special Note – Susan Dehaybi, recipient of the Lifetime Achievement award at the Spring 2007 Conference passed away recently; all members in attendance approved sending a card with a $25.00 donation to Kingman Regional Medical Center Hospice
  • 2007 Updated Treasurer Report (February through July) presented to members
    • 2007 YTD balance: $2477.27
    • Current members: 33
    • Estimates for Fall 2007 Conference expenditures presented to members; Joanne Schreiber approved this estimate; Carole Ryan seconded
  • Spring 2007 AZDA-North Conference to be tentatively held on Friday, April 11th
    • Members had concern that this date is the same as the DEP (Dietetic Educators of Practitioners) DPG conference; the Executive Board to take this into considerations
    • Mackin Building in Prescott currently reserved for the conference
    • Joanne Schreiber to discuss with Jeanne Briggs about potentially having the conference at Prescott Valley Medical Center
    • Ideas for potential speakers given to all members in attendance; comments from members to be submitted with conference evaluation form
  • Sue Gaumont, AZDA President introduced to members
    • Sue presented information on Principles of Affiliates that will take place next year; this will require that all AZDA members must be ADA members; this will be required in order to receive reimbursement from ADA (AZDA receives $41 for every member that is also a member of ADA)
  • For members that receive money toward National Nutrition Month activities, they will be required to present a report of their activities at the Spring district meeting
  • Stacey Hitesman informed members that AZDA State is updating their strategic plan this year
  • The Executive Board approved a free teleconference for members
    • To take place in the Tuba City or Show Low area
    • Topic: ADA Teleconference: Exchange Lists for Diabetes
    • Date: December 13th
    • Stacey Hitesman to look into teleconferencing abilities from Flagstaff Medical Center to other facilities
