Southern (S-AZDA)
Welcome to the Southern Arizona District Dietetic Association (S-AZDA)
The Southern Arizona District Dietetic Association (S-AZDA) is the local district of our national parent organization, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and our State organization, the Arizona Dietetic Association. Members include Registered Dietitians and Dietetic Technicians, Registered in the counties of Pima, Santa Cruz, Greenlee, and Cochise. Members from Pinal and Graham counties may also choose to be members of the Southern or Central District.
S-AZDA supports its members through continuing education, networking connections, and advocacy efforts. Members of S-AZDA provide the public with food and nutrition information/education as well as participating in local health fairs and events in our area. New this year, we plan on providing access to an up-to-date list of Registered Dietitians based in Southern Arizona available for consultation by specialty and location!
If you are a member of the Academy, with Arizona as your affiliate, we invite you to join S-AZDA!
I am honored and privileged to serve as your President this year. I am excited about working with our dynamic board and am looking forward to a year full of innovative changes. We will take on a community project to makes ourselves visible in southern Arizona. With childhood obesity awareness at an all time high, we have the opportunity to make an impact on our nation’s health as well as promote our profession.
To help better support you, we will be providing a quarterly newsletter. Although Tucson is the hub for S-AZDA, that does not diminish the importance of those of you in our outlying areas who provide services to those in rural areas. I would love to hear from our Diet Techs, (DTRs), and RD’s in our outlying areas and Tucson as to how we can serve you better. Join us and help make our communities a healthier place to live and give our profession the status it deserves!
