Central (C-AZAND)

Welcome to the Central District of the Arizona Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics! Our district represents Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics members of Maricopa County, which includes 12 cities in the greater Phoenix vicinity. Academy members from Pinal, Gila, and Graham counties may also choose to be members of the Southwest, Southern, or Northern districts.

We are a dynamic group of individuals with varied areas of expertise in the field of nutrition, health, and wellness. The Central District offers several membership meetings throughout the year for continuing education, and they stay connected to the community through networking and volunteer events. A quarterly newsletter keeps you abreast of upcoming activities, directs you to our social media outlets, and introduces you to the Central AZAND members through our member spotlight to maintain the “small community” feel.

Meet the Central District Board.

Qualification of AZ-AND District Membership

  • Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) members residing in Arizona are automatically members of the Arizona Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AZAND).
  • Any person who is a member in good standing of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is eligible to become a member of an AZAND District (Central, Southern, Northern, etc). Members may hold membership in more than one district.

The districts appreciate your financial support and your attendance at local meetings and events. Academy dues do not include local District association membership. We rely on your dues to provide local activities.

Central Arizona Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics 2017 – 2018 Events

In honor of National Nutrition Month the Central AZAND (C-AZAND) invites you to join us in our first ever community wide food drive during the month of March! This year, C-AZAND has focused on community outreach through our partnership with Kitchen on the Street (KOS). KOS is a faith-based, local non-profit organization whose mission is to address food insecurity in Maricopa County by providing weekend food backpacks to children and hosting food pantries at schools. Visit KOS’s website to learn more.

“Go Further with Food" is the theme for National Nutrition Month® (NNM) 2018, and its importance is timely for many reasons. This year's theme encourages us to achieve the numerous benefits of healthy eating, and it urges us to make a real difference in the community.  C-AZAND is organizing a food donation campaign on behalf of KOS-affiliated food pantries to help combat family food insecurity.

You have the opportunity to be part of this event in your workplace, school, church or other organization. Download the program materials to learn more and participate in the food drive!
