The Advocacy Committee Wants Your Recipes!

Each month the advocacy committee sends out recipes to the 90 AZ district legislators as a way to establish connections and to make us known. We would like each recipe we send to be a recipe created by a RDN, DTR, intern or student as a way to better promote our members and to really establish us as the nutrition experts.

If you are interested, please email Erika Barrera, our Public Policy Coordinator, your homemade recipes, your name and credentials, and your website or professional social media handle (if you desire) so that we can reference you as the creator on the recipe card we create.

Interested in knowing more about the roles of an Advocacy committee member? Join one of our meetings! We meet every first Tuesday of the month at 6PM via Zoom. Please email Erika if you are interested in any of these opportunities.

Thank you!

2021-2022 Legislative session update

The AZAND Advocacy team and board is working toward RDN licensure. To find out how licensure will impact the profession of dietetics in Arizona, go to: Licensure FAQs.

Learn more about AZAND's Road to Licensure through this short presentation!

There are two levels of policy and advocacy that are important for RDNs to understand and to be involved in.

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is committed to improving the nation's health and advancing the profession through research, education, and advocacy. Advocacy is critical to achieving the mission, vision, goals and strategies outlined in the Academy Strategic Plan.

Public policy significantly influences and forms the Academy's public image and that of the dietetics profession.

State governments play a vital role in creating and implementing policies that serve and protect the public. AZAND is your advocate in public policy at the state level to ensure the health and safety of the public; to make sure your voice is heard.
